As a rule, especially on-site, Asian-language interpreters work in pairs. This is the usual interpreting situation around the world (see why here). A standard day amounts to 8 hrs of work, split between 2 interpreters, a half-day 4, sometimes solo. It all depends... Please contact us!

Cancellation Fees

These are not set in stone. We always try to be as reasonable as possible, and only rarely do we need to apply them. For Asian languages, please expect us to be a bit more demanding...

Online

• Cancellation same day: 100%
• Cancellation the day before: 75%&
• Cancellation the day before that: 50%
• Cancellation before that: zéro

On site, national

• Cancellation one week before the mission: 100%
• Cancellation after confirmation of quote and up to one week before the mission 50%
• In both cases, any upfront travel expenditure (on proof of purchase) to be reimbursed in full

On site, international

• Cancellation one month before the mission: 100%
• Cancellation after confirmation of quote and up to one month before the mission 50%

Floaters are not a waste of time!

Compared to the time-wasting and client frustration, the cost is trivial...

No-shows

• If no floater was scheduled but a replacement can be found for the same day (or another day on a multi-day study)
• If the interpreter is still available

We will happily do it at no extra cost.

This is a rather grey area but we will always do our best to adapt to field realities at the lowest cost to you.

Job Overruns

Sh!t happens. The DG was longer than expected, the study only took 90 minutes in the US while the Latins went on for two hours. Yup, we know. But no matter what the reason, the interpreter still needs a break.

• Session overrun...
  • up to 5 minutes: once, OK, nothing
  • up to 10 minutes: once, starting to hurt
• Repeated session overruns...
  • up to 5 minutes: 25% surcharge of hourly rate
  • up to 10 minutes: 33% surcharge of hourly rate
  • up to 15 minutes: 50% surcharge of hourly rate
  • over 15 minutes: we stop everything, bugger off to Phoenix, AZ, and enter the world of crystal meth 😱
