Long Version
Back Story
- 1988: after 2 years as in-house translator for SVP 11 11, I became a freelance translator/interpreter and did a focus group for Gaultier-Gatard in the Rue Bichat, Paris 11th arrondissement. Weird, but amazing, and thus began my career.
- 2008: 20 years later, I started Frogologue.
- 2020: Covid hit and everything face-to-face collapsed. That's when my elder daughter decided she wanted to go to school in England, while her younger sister preferred to stay in France and go to agricultural college. Quite the commute... Research Interpreters Ltd was designed to ensure a congruent residence and tax status
- 2024: in June, one will be taking A‑levels and starting a gap year in Estonia and China, while the other will be chasing bears and tractors in the Pyrenees. I can smell the Miles from here.
Looking at the next few years, hopping about between Faverolles sur Cher, the Pyrenees, Bristol, London and god know where else, I need a solution that eliminates the complications of residency and Brexit and lets me work and move around in a legal and transparent manner. I am now in the process of setting up YAKYA.
Research Interpreters Ltd will soon be winding down and Frogologue will move onto to other things: etymology, onomastics, the history of French vigesimals, as well as wikigovernment, travels in Brazil and other exciting stuff.
For all your interpreting or transcription needs, for now please contact me at my usual frogologue email. Thanks! I will be announcing a new, shorter address in due course.
