The inevitable selfie...

For those who recognise me, this is me today(ish).

Born in 1954, first interpreting job 1973, working for an English guy looking to buy an old house to do up near the French Riviera.

I thinjhk he has about 27,000 French francs. You could do it in those days.

My real career started in 1986 or 1987, whne I became house translator for the French service company SVP 11 11. We used carbon paper, Tippex, and hammered away on old manual typewriters. I managed to revolutionise the department by getting it to buy Amstrad 825s with daily-wheel printers! Given their limited memory, as soon as we got to 8 pages or so, we had to create a few file to keep on working. Happy days!

Still a lover of languages, still interpreter-translator but, more and more, managing a great team of interpreters experienced in market research not just in French and English, but other languages too.

For information, I never send anybody to work for my clients, no matter which language combination, unless they're at least as good as me.
